Slovakia has made progress with regard to the businesses environment : better access to the credit, lowers interest rates, stability of the currency, greater information available, better communication with the institutions and the Government. However, the Slovak Administration remains bureaucratic and corrupted.

Many institutions regulate business practices in Slovakia, with too much rules and regulations. Slovakia used to be more FDI-friendly.

According to the 2015 World Economic Freedom Index, Slovakia ranks 50th in the world, with a downward trend in the last 5 years.
